Nutation in antiferromagnetic resonance

The effect of inertial spin dynamics is compared between ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic systems. linear response to an oscillating external magnetic field calculated within the framework Landau--Lifshitz--Gilbert equation using analytical theory computer simulations. Precession nutation resonance peaks are identified, it demonstrated that precession frequencies reduced by inertia, while lifetime excitations enhanced. interplay found be most prominent in antiferromagnets, where timescale exchange-driven sublattice comparable relaxation times. Consequently, techniques should better suited for search intrinsical on ultrafast timescales than ferromagnetic resonance.
